A community symposium to hear about other Social Justice Models and Coordinated Community Response programs in Canada was held at the PCU Rotary Room on September 24, 2013.
We heard from two different models:
- Winnipeg Police Service Response to Domestic Violence: Presenters were Gayle Michalyshyn, Manager of Victim Services and D/SGT. Arlene Kramble, Domestic Violence Intervention Coordinator (DVIC), Winnipeg Police Service.
- Building Partnerships to Reduce Crime (BPRC), Working Towards Safer and Healthier Communities Across Saskatchewan: Presenters were Anita Ingram and Barbara Rawluk , Building partnerships to Reduce Crime Consultants with the Ministry of Justice, Corrections and Policing
The information on these two programs was very relevant and will help inform the development of the Coordinated Community Response in Portage la Prairie and area.
Over 38 people from organizations in the area and some from Winnipeg registered and attended this symposium. Valuable feedback was gathered. Click here to read this report.
A specific sub-committee has been formed that will provide guidance on the development of a Coordinated Community Response in Portage la Prairie and area.
